Possible Workaround Solution

We have a similiar problem. Lotus 8.5.2 crashes when you try to open a category in a view.
We found the problem was caused by this: some columns under this category were truncated in the view. Column text data was longer than two lines, but view was set to display max two lines.

Enlarging the column size (so that data fits in without being truncated) or increasing view height up to 9 solved the crash problem
